A review on "Implementing Collaborative Process Based Writing in the EFL College Classroom" written by Handoyo Puji Widodo





This article narrows the topic as collaborative writing in process based writing.  it means that every step of writing process was done collaboratively. By writing collaboratively, students can experience each process better that individual writing because some steps which are difficult for them  such as gathering ideas, how to bring ideas into writing,  writing cohesively,  and many others will be solved collaboratively. Thus, beside of their writing skill, their critical thinking and social competence will be improved as well.  In implementing collaborative writing in process based writing, teacher should consider the media that the students comfortable with. Both hand-writing and digital writing are suitable for this method. Besides, during the writing process, teacher should guide the students in order to avoid unequal writing work of the students. Teacher may also help students in dealing any problems in the writing process, for example, providing scaffolding to enable students in  gathering ideas.   Considering that all the writing process done collaboratively, some techniques can be also combined in collaborative writing, for example, in editing process, teacher can implement peer-correction in which students correct their fellow’s work peerly.
