The fifth review is still about how effective collaborative writing improves students' writing skill. In line with the previous article, I found that this article is very informative. It gives understandable discussion about the effects and how they works in writing.
Collaborative writing as a teaching writing method has been proved to benefit on students’ writing ability. Many English teacher have implemented this since they believe that writing activity will be more effective if it is done collaboratively. A study by Mehrdad, et. al. results on the beneficial effects of collaborative writing towards students’ writing ability. He narrowed the focus of the study on writing accuracy, complexity, and fluency.  The results show that collaborative writing promotes students to focus on language use and negotiation meaning. It may also increase their motivation to be involved in writing activities. Besides, it also results on the positive effect of collaborative writing on students’ writing fluency, complexity, grammatical accuracy, and language use which is more complex. Students can get better fluency in collaborative writing because they express and arrange their ideas into written form collaboratively. Therefore, they are customized to arrange their ideas fluently.  Complexity deals with the language use. By having collaborative work in writing, they can share and learn each other about their language knowledge. Thus, students’ joining collaborative writing will have more complex language use than the other who do it individually. Further, collaborative writing can facilitate students to have better grammatical accuracy. This is due to the collaborative activity during wrting process that can enables them to directly correct their partner’s writing. Experience of correcting and being corrected will make them more aware with the grammar they use in writing.
